Antonio Casanas holds a MSc in Chemical Industrial Engineering, with several postgraduates in water treatment and environment. He also holds a degree in Risks Prevention.
He began his career working with the Australian multinational Hardie Irrigation and later with ESSO. He joined Dow Chemical in 1989, being initially the technical-commercial responsible for the Liquid Separations business in the Canary Islands, being since the early 90’s a key member of the large projects team and actually the Key Account Manager for Dow Water & Process Solutions for Spain and Portugal. He has been directly involved in the sale and design of the largest R.O. projects of Dow worldwide and has given the technical and commercial support to the main Spanish desalination plants like Ceuta, El Atabal, La Tordera, Javea, Lanzarote IV, Torrevieja, Aguilas, Valdelentisco, Marina Baja, among others, and also being involved in the negotiation of other important plants outside Spain like Mostaganem, Cap D’Jinet, Perth I, Perth II, Minera Escondida, Candelaria, Haialeah, Curaçao and Venezuela.
He has participated as a teacher in the Desalinataion Master organized by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and in the most important desalination courses organized in Spain and has presented works in several international congresses and for several national and international magazines. Since 2004 he is the Secretary of the Spanish Association of Desalination and Water Reuse, AEDyR, and represents this association as a board director of IDA.
