Dr. Abdullah Al Shaikh current position is of Deputy Governor for Planning and Development of Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC). Dr. Al-Alshaikh's first postgraduate position was working with ADA (Ar Riyadh Development Authority) as an engineer from 1988 – 1994.
In 1992 he was appointed as Director of the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and headed the department for two years and involved in the construction and maintenance of the Diplomatic Quarter. Also involved in the operations management of facilities like Cultural Palace (City Hall), Twaiq Palace, Sports club facilities etc in the Diplomatic Quarter.
In 1994 he moved to work with Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) as a Project Engineer in Studies & Designs Department and involved in reviewing of Consultant’s proposals and designs for the major Shoaiba Phase II Pipe Line Project, 122 km long pipe line with pumping stations and storage tanks to supply water to Jeddah and the holy city of Makkah and Taif.
In 1996 he appointed as General Manager of Projects in SWCC's head office and heading the department involved in the bid evaluation, awarding & implementation of contracts and interaction with governmental agencies, consultants and several contractors in the construction activities of major multimillion Power and Desalination projects.
In 2002 he promoted as Assistant Deputy Governor of SWCC for Projects & Technical Affairs. He continue to work as General Manager of Projects and in the absence of the Deputy Governor, he conduct the duties of Deputy Governor.
In 2006 he promoted as Deputy Governor of SWCC for Planning and Development and still holding the same position.
Along with what have been mentioned above:
1. In 2002 he started practicing Arbitration, and had four cases most of them where about Construction Dispute.
2. In 2006 he was elected a Vice Chairman of (SCE) Saudi Council of Engineers & Chairman of Project Management Chapter.
3. In 2009 he was elected a Chairman of Project Management chapter at the SCE for the second time.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Alshaikh holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, in 1984.
Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, State College, USA, in 1988.
In 2004 he awarded his Ph.D. degree in Business Administration for his thesis, " A contract Model for Private sector participation in water resources management: The case of Saudi Arabia " from Hull University, UK.
