Dr. Bushnak is the CEO of Bushnak Group, a leading investment group in desalination and water reuse. He holds a B.S. and M.S. degrees from University of California (Berkeley) and his Ph.D. from University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). Dr. Bushnak started his career in 1972 as a lecturer at the College of Engineering of King Saud University. He co-founded with his brothers Zuhdi and Faisal, several technology and engineering companies most of them in water related activities. Dr. Bushnak has over 30 years of experience in education, applied research, consulting, enterpeneur and public service. He has been appointed by Saudi government to several top policy councils on both national and regional levels. He co-founded several national initiatives, philanthropic foundations and NGO's. He has active interests and investment in education and technology.

Dr. Bushnak is currently working to set up Dar Al-Taqniya Academy to be located in Dubai Techno Park. DAT Academy mission is to facilitate international co-operation in technology development and capacity building focusing on desalination, energy and environment. DAT Academy will work with UN University to develop a professional program for continuing on-line education in desalination. DAT Academy will work with IDA to organize technical seminars in Dubai. The first seminar title is " Strategic Solutions to Water & Power Optimization" to be held in January 2006 .

Dr. Bushnak is a co-founder of the Arab Water Council which is a new NGO under formation. The mission of AWC is to facilitate cooperation among water specialists and organizations in order to enhance integrated water resources management and long term water security in the Arab Region through a common vision. Dr. Bushnak is also working to establish Makkah Techno Park to be a center of excellence in technology development and transfer as well as in education and culture.

Dr. Bushnak was an active participant in establishing IDA. He served on the board of directors for several years and as a president from 1987 to1989. He shares the believe of many IDA members that this unique international organization can and should play a pivotal role in the advancement of desalination and water reuse technologies. IDA should initiate and facilitate international and regional cooperation programs for capacity building and joint research. The priorities and contributions of policy makers, business leaders and academic/technical experts should be represented in all IDA programs. IDA should be a resource for countries and regions wishing to develop strategic policies to use desalination technology.
