Mr. Manuel Pereira is Co-founder of the Caribbean Desalination Association (CaribDA) together with Mr. Humphrey Gouverneur and has been appointed as the first Secretary. After the first election he became the First Treasurer (2008-2010). He has represented CaribDA at the IDA World Congress in Grand Canaria and Dubai, where he has been very active in promoting CaribDA. Furthermore he has been promoting CaribDA in the region by attending several Seminars, Workshop and Conferences by presenting several papers as well as Keynote Speaker. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering of the University of the Netherlands Antilles followed by a 2 years specialization in The Netherlands (Europe). He is fluent in the 5 languages; English, Dutch, Spanish, Papiamento and Portuguese. He has a total of 20 years experience in Construction Projects (Refinery, Power and Water plants) in The Netherlands and in the Caribbean. Joined Aqualectra, Water and Power Utilities from Curacao, in 1998 as Project Engineer where he was involved in several Desalination new projects and upgrades. In 2003 he has been appointed as the Project Manager for the execution of the 18.000 m3/day (4.8 MGD) SWRO Plant build at Sta. Barbara, Curacao. Since 2010 he has been promoted to Manager of Projects Bureau for Aqualectra where he is responsible for all projects in the Water and in the Power division of Aqualectra.
